Let me share some compelling insights with you: Organizations with women leaders tend to perform better financially and have higher levels of employee engagement and satisfaction. This is because women contribute to more inclusive, innovative, and effective work environments.
When it comes to board representation, having at least three women can bring significant benefits:
- Better decision-making through diverse perspectives
- Improved performance, including higher returns on equity and better credit ratings

However, we still face significant challenges.
Women of color, in particular, are severely underrepresented. A recent study found that only 3% of board members in private venture-backed companies are women of color.
The COVID-19 pandemic has further exacerbated these issues, erasing decades of progress. Women of color are now more likely to perceive their race as an obstacle to advancement compared to six years ago.
The burnout is also real: 43% of women leaders report feeling burned out, compared to 31% of men.
At the current rate, it will take 48 years for the representation of women in senior leadership to reflect our share of the U.S. population.
But there’s hope. Women’s leadership has the potential to change the course of history and shape our global community’s future.
